Attention All 3rd - 8th graders! HCES Equestrian club is starting up this Spring!

The HCES riding program offers students (Boys and Girls) an opportunity to develop and grow their passion for riding in a co-educational setting. Students have the opportunity to develop their equine skills in a variety of disciplines from beginner to the most advanced. The HCES riding program at Moccasin Stables offers training and expertise in equitation, jumpers, hunters and combined training.

You have the choice to bring your own horse or to work with one of our “equine professors”. Our school horses set the standard for quality. Many have competed at the top of their discipline and offer a schoolmaster experience for their riders.  Others will teach you how to ride from the beginning.

When you ride at Mocassin Stables, you will have the best of our program and the best of your training program from home. If you come to us with an existing trainer, we will work in partnership to create a program that builds on your experience and will best develop your riding skills. The HCES training philosophy has its roots in classical horsemanship with the belief that the fundamentals must be achieved. It is not possible to create competent riders without the basics. Without straightness, forwardness and the ability to ride with a balanced seat and an independent leg, the rider will not progress. The great horsemen have mastered these fundamentals. There are no secrets, just hard work.

And at Moccasin Stables, it’s not just about the riding. The program centers around creating a well-rounded rider. The student learns all areas of horse management including stable management, veterinary care and conditioning needs. We strive to produce an all-around horseperson who is knowledgeable, caring, competent and exemplifies good horsemanship and sportsmanship.
Novice riders can attend local schooling shows.
