Meet our Head of School, Peter Klekamp

Peter has worked in four private independent schools in Georgia, Michigan, Tennessee and for the past eleven years here at Holy Comforter. He earned his B.S. in Secondary Education from the University of Cincinnati and a M.A. in Community Counseling from the University of Detroit Mercy.  He has had the privilege of working in a variety of school settings including religious, secular, K-8 and K-12 schools.  "The perfect approach in education to me is the PreK-8 model where middle school students grow and thrive without the influence of high school students. Once they graduate they can then learn to 'transition' to a different school setting while living under your roof before heading off to college!"

As a Head of School Peter continues to teach 8th grade world religion and ethics which is the highlight of his week. He has taught 4th through 12th grade in some capacity over the years primarily in the history department. A father of three HCES graduates, a daughter and two sons, Peter and his wife Michelle love to travel as a family to the beach and overseas.

Little know facts:
  1. Peter is the 7th of eight children so he is right at home in "controlled chaos"!
  2.  In his first year of teaching, he had one 30 minute planning period a week and after school coached: girls volleyball, boys soccer, co-ed softball, girls basketball, boys basketball, and co-ed tennis (2 teams a season!)  "I learned quickly how to juggle a lot!"
