Summer Camp

Welcome to Camp Crusader!

Our Summer Camp program carries on the mission of the school day in a more relaxed atmosphere. “Kids can be kids” and experience joy, playfulness and growth in a safe environment.

Our summer day camp for children in the community in PK3 – 8th grade. Each week campers experience a new theme and various interests to provide a unique, high quality experience. The themes include a wide range of activities such as pottery, sports, cooking, theatre, build and design, STEAM, fitness, music, and more! In addition to the daily themed activity, children also enjoy arts and crafts, outdoor games, playground time, cooking, and much more.

Where kids can be kids...

Camp Crusader at Holy Comforter Episcopal School is once again offering a positive, safe, fun environment for your kids to experience some amazing programs and make some awesome memories! Camp Crusader is staffed with Role Models who are excited to bring you activities like capture the flag, arts & crafts, kickball, ping pong, team building, and many more.

Themes: We will have fun themes like Water World, Transformers, Ultimate Team Building, Shipwrecked, and All American Heroes

Field Trips: New this summer, we will use our Holy Comforter bus to take campers on adventures in fun places like the Gulf Specimen Marine Lab, FSU Reservation, and Wakulla Springs, just to mention a few. Field trips will be on Wednesdays for children 7 years and older.

Camp Crusader Day Camp (Preschool - 5th Grade)

  • Week 1: Water World (June 3 - June 7)

    This week we will learn all about lake, beach and sea life, as well as enjoy water and create ways to make a big splash.  Time to get wet!
  • Week 2: Transformers (June 10 - 14)

    A hodgepodge of creative art and building activities that include everything from crayons to clay, and a little duct tape… the sky's the limit! We will enjoy using a variety of repurposing methods to create our own uniquely inspired projects!
     
  • Week 3: EATZ (June 17 - 21)

    Do you love Good Eats, Cupcake Wars, or Iron Chef? This week we will blissfully bake, cheerfully chop, playfully pour, and wistfully whip our way through a combination of ingredients to delight even the most discriminating palate.
  • Week 4: Ultimate Team Building Experience (June 24 - June 28)

    STEAM activities will abound this week as we use a variety of materials to complete different challenges. Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math skills will be brought to life as we problem solve, plan, build, experiment and execute to achieve our vision!
     
  • Week 5: All American Heroes (July 1 - 3)

    From everything red, white and blue to celebrating with superheroes. This week we will celebrate our country as we all become superheroes of the USA! Note: Camp Crusader will be closed Thursday, July 4th and Friday July 5th.
  • Week 6: Shipwrecked - S.O.S.! (July 8 - 12)

    Join us on a survival adventure as we learn some survival skills, go on a scavenger hunt for supplies, food, and perhaps find treasure! We will learn to build shelters, and even have a Rescue Party at the end of the week!
  • Week 7: Go Green! (July 15 - 19)

    This week we will focus on ways that we can help keep the Earth green, using recycled materials to make some fabulous creations, and engage in fun activities that promote wellness and health. This eco-friendly week is sure to be a fun way to learn about sustainability and using our resources wisely!
  • Week 8: Endless Summer (July 22 - 26)

    If only summer would never end! Say goodbye to summer and hello to the school year as we wrap up summer camp with some of our favorite activities. We will culminate the week with a summer camp cookout!

Camp Crusader Specialty Camps

Holy Comforter Episcopal School offers a wide range of positive, fun, and active summer activities for kids to enjoy. Our teachers become our summer role models for our Specialty Camps.

This summer, students in 3rd - 8th grade will enjoy hands-on, engaging half-day specialty camps taught by our own HCES teachers. From project-based science learning to design and innovation to creative writing, readers' theatre, drama class and more, there is something for every special interest. 

Camp Crusader Specialty Camps (3rd - 8th Grade)

  • Week 1: Writing Camp (June 3 - 7)

    Open to 5th - 8th Graders
    Our creative writing camp is designed for students in grades 5-8 who have a passion for writing. Each day, young authors will review and practice writing craft skills, learn to “think like a writer," and will work on developing characters, settings, and plots in original fictional narratives. On our final day, we will have a Young Authors Conference with local authors so that students can receive substantive feedback on their work. This class is taught by Susan Koehler, a published author and a member of the Holy Comforter Episcopal School faculty.

    This is a half-day camp, Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 11:30 am.

  • Week 2: Readers’ Theatre (June 10 - 14)

    Open to 3rd - 5th Graders
    Students will practice their reading skills as they perform Readers’ Theatre scripts. Students become excited and eager about reading when they are presented with the opportunity to participate in a performance. We will choose scripts, practice, create scenery, design our own props and perform our scripts. Through this activity, students have the opportunity to develop fluency and further enhance reading comprehension. This class is for students in 3rd - 5th grade and is taught by Karen Wells, a member of the Holy Comforter Episcopal School faculty.

  • Week 3: Follow the Clues Camp (June 17 - 21)

    Open to 3rd - 5th Graders
    Think, Read, and Write Like a Detective! Calling all detectives! We will be cracking codes, solving mysteries, investigating fingerprints, and more! This class is for students in 3rd - 5th grade and is taught by Jen Cruse, a member of the Holy Comforter Episcopal School faculty.

    This is a half-day camp, Monday - Friday from 8:00am - 11:30am.

  • Week 4: Drama Camp (June 24 - 28)

    Open to 5th - 8th Graders
    Drama camp is for students in grades 5-8 who are interested in stepping into the spotlight and acting on stage. Each day, young performers will participate in hands-on exercises and projects to develop fundamental skills of theatre performance such as acting techniques, character analysis, vocal production, and improvisation. On the final day of camp, students will show off their stuff with a performance for family and friends. The camp is taught by Christina Wiggins, a middle school theatre specialist and member of the Holy Comforter Episcopal School Faculty. 

    This is a half-day camp, Monday - Friday from 8:00am - 11:30am.

  • Week 6: Healthy Math Camp (July 8 - 12)

    Open to 3rd - 5th Graders
    Let's Get Fooducated! Learn how math can help you understand proper nutrition and exercise!  We will be exercising, creating healthy (and tasty) meals, and creating graphs, tables, and charts. This class is for students in 3rd - 5th grade and is taught by Jen Cruse, a member of the Holy Comforter Episcopal School faculty.

    This is a half-day camp, Monday - Friday from 8:00am - 11:30am.

  • Week 7: Science Camp (July 15 - 19)

    Open to 5th - 8th Graders
    Join us as we walk through different fields of science in a week of project-based learning. We will construct solar ovens, Ames rooms and parachutes to flex our physics, engineering, and math skills. We will create sugar mosaics and make yogurt to fuse our artistic abilities with our microbiology and chemistry knowledge. Every day is a new and fun adventure in this science summer camp! This class is taught by Dr. Arakelian, a member of the Holy Comforter Episcopal School faculty.

    This is a half-day camp, Monday - Friday from 8:00am - 11:30am.

  • Week 8: Innovation Lab Art: Design Thinking Through Art (July 22 - 26)

    Open to 3rd - 5th Graders
    Do you like to design and create useful products focusing on function and visual appeal? Join us for a week of turning recycled items into works of art. While learning about the importance of design, students will create everyday items from ordinary materials such as duct tape, cardboard, scrap wood, recycled plastic, and more. This class is for students in 3rd - 5th grade and is taught by Tammy Carpenter, a member of the Holy Comforter Episcopal School faculty. 

    This is a half-day camp, Monday - Friday from 8:00am - 11:30am.

Camp Crusader Sports Clinics (3rd - 8th Grade)

Join us for our ever-popular half-day sports camps. These camps are for rising 3rd through 8th grade students. Afternoon Care is available for 3rd-5th grade students.
