Summer Camp

Welcome to Camp Crusader!

Our Summer Camp program carries on the mission of the school day in a more relaxed atmosphere. “Kids can be kids” and experience joy, playfulness and growth in a safe environment.

Our summer day camp for children in the community in rising PK3 – 5th grade. Each week campers experience a new theme and various interests to provide a unique, high quality experience. The themes include a wide range of activities. In addition to the daily themed activity, children also enjoy arts and crafts, outdoor games, playground time, cooking, and much more.

Camp Crusader at Holy Comforter Episcopal School is once again offering a positive, safe, fun environment for your kids to experience some amazing programs and make some awesome memories! Camp Crusader is staffed with Role Models who are excited to bring you activities like capture the flag, arts & crafts, kickball, ping pong, team building, and many more.

  • Way Out West Camp Crusader 2023

    Come join us for an endless summer at Camp Crusader, open to rising PK3 - 5th graders from May 31 - July 21! Children will enjoy games, sports, crafts, enrichment classes, bouncy houses, and more! 2nd - 5th grade will enjoy a weekly field trip to places around Tallahassee. A nutritious lunch is included in the cost and will be made fresh daily by Chef Dan with our FLIK Dining Program. 

    Our PK3 and PK4 camp is ONLY open to current HCES students.

Camp Crusader Athletic Camps (1st - 8th Grade)

In each athletics camp you will receive coaching and mentoring on the fundamentals of each sport and be taught the rules of the game. By the end of the week, the kids will have more knowledge of the game and a passion to continue to play that sport with the experience they receive from our coaches. All Camps will be 7:30 Drop Off - 11:30 Pick Up. There is a lunch and afternoon add-on option for campers in 1st-5th grade.

All summer camp payments are due by May 24th.

Deposit:
A non-refundable $25 deposit per child, per week of camp is included in your balance. This non-refundable deposit is due at the time of registration. Camp weeks must be paid in full by May 24, 2023.
Cancellation/Refund Policy:
Cancellations more than 14 days in advance will receive a full refund minus the deposit. Cancellations less than 14 days will receive a 50% refund minus the deposit. No refunds will be given for week-of cancellations. We are not able to accept American Express or Discover at this time.

Camp Crusader Specialty Camps (K - 8th Grade)

Holy Comforter Episcopal School offers a wide range of positive, fun, and active summer activities for kids to enjoy. Our teachers become our summer role models for our Specialty Camps.

This summer, students in K - 8th grade will enjoy hands-on, engaging half-day specialty camps taught by our own HCES teachers. (Be sure to look at the age ranges next to each week). All camps run from 7:30am - 11:30am and there is a lunch and afternoon add-on option for K - 5th grade. 

Day camp field trips are not included as a specialty camp activity.

  • June 5-9 | Stop Motion Movie Making with Mrs. Perkins (Grades 3-5)

    Get your creativity flowing with stop-motion movie fun with Mrs. Perkins! Campers will create several animated short films using action figures, clay figures and paper craft characters. They will explore storyboarding, stop-motion filming, editing and sound effects.
  • June 5 - 9 | Retro Recycle Reuse Crafts with Mrs. Carpenter (Grade 3-5)

    Join Mrs. Carpenter for a week of “craftivities”! We will use recycled materials to create everyday items from ordinary materials such as cardboard, tissue paper, recycled glass and more. Each student will enjoy bringing home many usable creations!
  • June 5 - 9 | Nature Explorers with Mrs. Harrison (Grades 1 - 3)

    Who is ready to spend the first week of summer camp enjoying the Florida sunshine?! Wear your comfy clothes & tennis shoes & let's get ready to explore the outdoors! Join Mrs. Harrison for a week of hands-on learning on our beautiful campus! Reading, walking trails, arts/crafts, planting flowers, scavengers hunts, & all things nature! This will be a fun week with lots of take-homes that you won't want to miss!
  • June 5 - 9 | Fairies & Tales with Ms Jewell (Grades 1-2)

    Join Ms. Jewell for a week of crafts, games, and reading activities centered around fairies and classic fairy tales!
  • June 12-16 | Crusaders in the Community (Grades 6-8)

    Join us for a hands-on, service-oriented camp geared specifically for middle school students.  We'll venture out to serve non-profit organizations throughout our community and gain insight regarding the impact these organizations have locally and beyond.  Components of leadership and teamwork will be entwined throughout the week.  The HCES bus will be used for all off-campus trips, and students will earn 15 service hours throughout the week.  Lisa Butera and Lindsay Cheesborough will facilitate the camp.
  • June 12-16 | Cheer Camp with Mrs. Cowart (Grades K-2)

    S-P-I-R-I-T, SPIRIT, let’s hear it! Join us for a spirit-filled week of fun and cheer!! We will have a blast while learning proper techniques for motions and jumps, learn cheers and chants, execute a few stunts, and even learn a short dance. We will be having fun all week long while helping you show your Crusader pride! There will even be a Pep Rally on Friday for friends and family to attend. 
  • June 12-16 | Cheer Camp With Mrs. Hatchett (Grades 3-6)

    S-P-I-R-I-T, SPIRIT, let’s hear it! Join us for a spirit-filled week of fun and cheer!! We will have a blast while learning proper techniques for motions and jumps, learn cheers and chants, execute a few stunts, and even learn a short dance. We will be having fun all week long while helping you show your Crusader pride! There will even be a Pep Rally on Friday for friends and family to attend. 
  • June 12-16 | Mini Maker Camp with Mrs. Knudsen (Grades 1-2)

    Does your child love to experiment, explore, tinker and build with whatever materials are on hand? Then Camp Crusader's Mini Maker Camp with Mrs. Knudsen is the place for your Mini Maker! Treat your little maker to a week-long immersion into design thinking, problem-solving, collaboration and making that will spark their curiosity and flex their creative muscles like never before. Projects include: free builds, Lego & K'nex engineering, 3D design and 3D printing, stop-motion animation, fun robotics and coding projects, and so much more!
  • June 12-16 | Random Acts of Kindness Camp with Mrs. Mills (Grades 2-5)

    Join Mrs. Mills and friends as we have fun focusing on ways we can make a difference and serve our school and community through various crafts, projects, and volunteering! Activities will include painting and placing kindness rocks, designing bookmarks for teachers, writing letters to the military, prepping bags for the food pantry, caring for the church garden, reading to preschoolers, and making cards for nursing home residents.
  • June 12-16 | Staycation with Ms. Jewell (Grades 3-4)

    Join Ms. Jewell for a week full of classic vacation fun right here at school! Camping, Disney, S’mores, beach, and more! We will play games, do crafts, and other fun activities.
  • June 19-23 | Mathmagic! with Mrs. Perkins (Grades 4-5)

    Join Mrs. Perkins as we explore the wonders of math through games, books, art, music and more! This hands-on learning experience will be a review of key math concepts with a focus on deep thinking and fun!
  • June 19-23 | Master Maze Makers with Ms. Eto (Grades 3-5)

    Do you like solving maze puzzles? Join this camp to become a Maze Maker! Use your creative skills to make unique mazes. With so many materials to choose from, like straws, cardboard, and string, you become a Master Maze Maker! Share your fun mazes with your family and friends to solve!
  • June 19-23 | Creative Writing and Reader's Theater Camp with Mrs. Spicer (Grades 2-5)

    Come get your creative juices flowing at Mrs. Spicer's Creative Writing and Reader's Theater Camp. Your child will go through the writing process and come home with published writing pieces. Additionally, the second part of the camp day will focus on reading fluency in a fun way by having your child step into a character's role that will culminate with a performance at the end of the week! Parents are invited to attend the performance.
  • June 19-23 | Cheer Camp with Mrs. Cowart (Grades K-2)

    S-P-I-R-I-T, SPIRIT, let’s hear it! Join us for a spirit-filled week of fun and cheer!!   • June 26-30 | Outside Exploration with Mr. Spengler (Grades 4-6)

    The great outdoors is where we explore! Come join our class on the Miccosukee Greenway trail next to Holy Comforter! We'll learn about nature, hiking, science experiments, and camping. The adventure of the outdoors is what makes this class special. Take an early hike and come back to some air-conditioned fun later that morning. Have some fun in the sun this summer in Outside Exploration with Mr. Spengler!
  • July 10-14 | Creativity Camp with Mr. Spengler (Grades 4-6)

    If you like doing fun over-the-top summer activities, then this class is for you! There's no more "I'm bored, there's nothing to do today" in this class! Students will complete projects and learn how to think in innovative ways. Students will be encouraged to be creative and unique in problem-solving, creating, working together, and having fun in the summer. Projects may include: building a backyard beach, a scavenger hunt, a business for a day competition, balloon animals, art projects, making a camp newspaper, LEGOs, board games, writing a play, and more! Come join Mr. Spengler for a week of fun!
  • July 10-14 | Crusader Cooking Camp with Mrs. James (Grades 3-5)

    Calling all Sous Chefs! Join us at Crusader Cooking Camp for a hands-on introduction to all things culinary! Your little chef will have the opportunity to get creative, while cooking balanced and delicious dishes. Over the week we will learn about kitchen safety, hygiene, techniques, terminology, and how to read a recipe! Our menus will include a variety of foods from different cultures including tacos, pizzas, French toast, and more!
  • July 10-14 | LEGO Camp with Mr. Long (Grades 2-4)

    Join us this summer for LEGO camp! Treat your child to the excitement of building and creating all week long. At Lego camp we will practice free building and create prescripted builds. There will be time for both individual play and team work! The challenge of building stimulates the brain and promotes resilience. A spaceship? A race car? A castle? Not even the sky's the limit!
  • July 17-21 | Drawing 101, Draw like an Artist! With Mrs. Myrick (Grades 3-6)

    Is your child interested in building their drawing skills? This Drawing 101 camp will be filled with observational, process, and technique drawing lessons designed to build your child’s skills, technique, creativity, and confidence in drawing. 

    In this camp we will explore dry drawing media including graphite, pen and ink. We will master basic concepts including line, shape, and form, and move on to practice techniques such as shading, technique and perspective. All the while enhancing their work with a heavy dose of imagination and style!


  • July 17-21 | Food Truck Frenzy with Ms. Eto (Grades 3-5)

    Learn how to start a food truck business from the ground up! You will design a business plan, market your food truck, create a menu, and build a mini 3D truck. Using your creative mind, let’s build a business together!
  • July 17-21 | LEGO Camp with Mr. Long (Grades 2-4)

    Join us this summer for LEGO camp! Treat your child to the excitement of building and creating all week long. At Lego camp we will practice free building and create prescripted builds.
