8th Grade Science Students Welcome Dr. Harrison Prosper
On Friday, March 4th, Dr. Harrison Prosper stopped by to speak with 8th Grade Science students about space, gravity, and history. During the visit, he answered student's questions about various topics and visited our science classrooms. Ms. Stevenson's students were putting some final touches on their STEM Fair projects and Ms. Jung's were doing a station lab about rocks. After observing and engaging students, Dr. Prosper said, "This is why I'm so optimistic about education." He was thrilled to see students engaged and learning through discovery, trial, error, and facilitation. It's not every day that a university professor of physics, CERN Collaboration Team member, and scientist that helped discover a subatomic particle, the muon, compliments your students and program. He has already requested to come back next year and also invited a group of students to go star gazing in the fall with his college class. Special thank you to teacher, Lance Davis for welcoming guest speakers and untraditional learning experiences into our classrooms.
