Fall 2016 Extended Day Classes

Band
Band is for everyone! No experience required!
Opportunities in Band for 3rd-5th grades
Lower School Beginning Band (Mondays and Thursdays 3:00-3:45pm)
Lower School Advanced Band (Tuesdays and Fridays 3:00-3:45pm)
Band students may play one of the following instruments: flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone or percussion/mallets.

Dancing Little Stars
Open to PK3-Third Grade
Dancing Little Stars ballet and tap classes taught here at Holy Comforter! 1 hour weekly lessons; 30 minutes ballet, 30 minutes tap. Class time Mondays 3:15-4:15pm. There will be one class from PK-Kindergarten and one class for First-Third Grades.  Ballet and Tap shoes and leotards recommended, but not required. *Please send dancer in easy-to-change into clothing and slip on shoes on dance day. Recital is June 3, 2017

Legos
This Lego class is an introduction to Lego Robotics. It makes it possible for younger students to build and program robots. Michele Proctor will lead this fun learning experience for our Kindergarten through Third Grade students. This class provides a hands-on experience that actively involves young students in their own learning process and promotes children’s creative thinking, teamwork and problem solving skills.
Kindergarten and First Grade (Mondays from 3:15-4:00pm)
Second and Third Grades (Mondays from 4:00-4:45pm)

MOLAB
MoLab, a not-for-profit organization, provides on-the-go, dynamic, hands-on, and inquiry-based science experiences through a mobile laboratory that promotes discovery. MoLab will provide a round of exciting after-school science discovery experiences for students registered for this program. Each week students will experience a series of new STEM Investigation Workshops, which are inquiry-based, fun, hands-on exploration activities that enable all students to gain firsthand knowledge in the sciences. Topics will include: biology, anatomy, chemistry, physics, and much more. 
PK3 and PK4 (Wednesdays from 2:45-3:15pm)
Kindergarten and 1st Grade (Wednesdays from 3:30-4:00pm)
2nd-5th Grades (Wednesdays from 4:15-5:00pm)
Begins: Wednesday, August 31st (11 sessions)

Music Lessons
Music Lessons Express is excited to be offering group lessons for guitar, violin and piano this fall at Holy Comforter! We have been teaching music in Tallahassee for 11 years and have a program that makes learning music fun and enjoyable for kids. Our group lessons will be 45 minutes long with a maximum of 4 children in each class. Students registered for guitar and violin must provide their own instrument. All of our instructors have both a love for music, and teaching it to others. We hope you’ll be a part of our program this year!
Monday- Piano (Kindergarten: 3:00-3:45pm or 3:50-4:35pm)
Tuesday- Guitar (2nd-8th Grades: 3:00-3:45pm), Violin (2nd-8th Grades: 3:50-4:35pm)
Wednesday- Piano (First Grade: 3:00-3:45pm or 3:50-4:35pm)
Thursday- Piano (Second/Third Grades: 3:00-3:45pm or 3:50-4:35pm)
Friday- Piano (Fourth/Fifth Grades: 3:00-3:45pm or 3:50-4:35pm)

Tennis
Coach Lenin Mongerie will be teaching our tennis classes for first through 8th graders.  The group lessons will be Wednesdays from 3:15-4:00pm.

Titus 
Holy Comforter Episcopal School is excited to have an ongoing partnership with TITUS to bring this unique, fun-filled program for our lower school students (PK3 – 5th grade). The overall goal of the program is to build a strong foundation to help enhance physical competency and athleticism in later years.
The children will participate in a variety of physical activities, drills, and games. Throughout all activities, Titus Coaches will also focus on the child’s posture, body positioning, and patterns of movement. All children will participate in pre and post performance evaluations. Parents will have access to these assessments upon request. Classes will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week.
