The HCES Quest Program

The LS Gifted Program (Quest) began today, August 22!
The LS Gifted Program (Quest) began today, August 22. Kay Crowell teaches the once a week class and comes to us with a wealth of knowledge and experience. Kay holds a Bachelor’s degree in English and Sociology, a Master’s in Special Education, and a Specialist degree in Elementary Education. Her teaching experiences include 27 years as the Gifted Coordinator/Teacher at Gilchrist Elementary, facilitator of gifted certification classes for teachers, and lead teacher in the1995 Florida-Russia exchange through the Sister School Program in Moscow. Units of study will be enrichment based themes which incorporate higher level thinking skills, creative expression, and the components of the 21st century learning skills. The 3rd – 5th grade class will kick off this semester with a unit entitled, “Time Travel to the Medieval and Renaissance Times.” Think castles, knights, and fun learning! The 1st and 2nd grade class will begin with a study of bridges exploring the answers to questions such as, "What are the different types of bridges?" "What makes a great bridge?" and "How are bridges constructed?" We are thrilled to welcome Kay and this wonderful new program to our school.
