The HCES cross country team wrapped up a successful season with an impressive showing at the Middle School State Cross Country Championships held in Lakeland on November 3^rd.

The HCES girls team came home with an impressive 5^th place finish out of the 23 qualifying schools, while the boys squad finished in 18^th place out of 26 qualifying schools.

 

With over 400 of Florida’s best public and private school runners competing, it was a challenging test on a difficult sand-filled course. In order to qualify, each team had to win a state qualifier earlier in the season.

 

Competing for the Crusaders were girls team members Katherine Resavage (24^th), Molly McCann (43^rd), Julia Rose Travis (55^th), Gray Kinch (67^th), Emma Travis (83^rd), Julianna Heuchan (101^st ), and Rachel Rumana (102^nd). Layla Fistos, Natalie Laywell, and Savannah Laywell also competed, running in the open meet. 

 

On the boys side were runners Johnny Fitzgerald (41^st), Aaron Amidon (112^th), James Ford (144^th), Jordan Pichard (156^th), Tripp Shippen (161^st), Bryce Valveri (174^th), and Joshua Tudor (203^rd).
