Spirit week came to a close on Friday as the HCES basketball teams battled Trinity in their final games of the season. Our girls team completed their record-setting 8-2 season with a victory over Trinity. The girls played well all year long as we said goodbye to our eight graduating 8th graders. The boys varsity team also provided plenty of excitement for the home crowd in a back and forth battle that came down to the last shot of the game. Although they lost by 1 point, the boys played well and said goodbye to 4 extremely talented 8th graders.
Also during the evening, our boosters held a cookout to raise money for our athletic department. Paul Mitchell had the grill in full operation as parents, students, and several visiting alumni enjoyed fresh food and great fellowship.
During halftime, the huge home crowd welcomed nearly 60 lower-school cheerleaders that participated in the week-long cheer clinic led by the HCES middle school cheer squad and coaches. The girls did a great job showing their Crusader pride to the enthusiastic crowd.
Thanks very much to our athletes, coaches, alumni, parents, and many volunteers for making it a night to remember for HCES athletics.
