Congratulations HCES Senior Alumni Class of 2013

Holy Comforter's 8th grade class of 2009 will soon graduate from 9 different high schools (Leon, Lincoln, Chiles, Maclay, Florida High, and SAIL in Tallahassee, Avon Old Farms School in Connecticut and two out of state public schools - one in Georgia and one in Missouri). Although information is still coming in to us about scholarships and awards that they have won, we are so proud of their accomplishments that we couldn't wait to share it with you. Holy Comforter's 8th grade class of 2009 will soon graduate from 9 different high schools (Leon, Lincoln, Chiles, Maclay, Florida High, and SAIL in Tallahassee, Avon Old Farms School in Connecticut and two out of state public schools - one in Georgia and one in Missouri). Although information is still coming in to us about scholarships and awards that they have won, we are so proud of their accomplishments that we couldn't wait to share it with you.
  • For the third year in a row, the valedictorian at one of the high schools in Tallahassee is a graduate of Holy Comforter ---congratulations to Ellie Sell at Lincoln! She will be enrolling at Princeton University eyeing a career in medicine.
  • Leon High School has 16 of our graduates: 2 are graduating summa cum laude, 4 are magna cum laude, 3 are cum laude, 1 with honors and 2 with distinction.
  • Lincoln High School has 7 of our graduates: 2 are graduating summa cum laude, 1 cum laude and 1 commended.
  • Sixteen will graduate from Chiles High School: 2 of which are cum laude, 2 with honors and 4 commended.
  • Two of the six graduating from Maclay School are honors graduates.
  • Three of our graduates were invited to attend the Best and Brightest Awards – Taylor Harvey (Leon) was a runner-up for English, Ellie Sell (Lincoln) won for Leadership and Theresa Giralt (Maclay) was nominated for Music.
  • At least six of our graduates will continue playing athletics in college: Crawford Conrad (Chiles) will run cross country for the University of Alabama at Montevallo; Eric Epting (Leon) will play golf at Methodist University; Katherine Harper (Chiles) will play volleyball at Montreat College; Ali Jenkins (Lincoln) will play soccer for Rollins College; Caroline Parrish (Maclay) will play golf for Thomas University; and Zac Taylor (Leon) will play baseball for TCC.
  • Maren Johnson, eighth in her class at Lincoln, was awarded the prestigious Wilkins Scholarship at Sewanee-The University of the South.
  • Maddie DeLoach (Leon) and Ali Jenkins (Lincoln) received the prestigious Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship. Only one student per school receives this award. Maddie also won first place in the Latin State Competition in Orlando for vocabulary, and she thanks her initial start in Latin to HCES teacher Leslie Peebles.
  • The list of college acceptances is long but we know that the matriculation list includes but is not limited to: Belmont University, Berry College, College of Charleston, Elon College, Oxford College at Emory University, Florida Southern College, Florida State University, Hamline University, Methodist University, Montreat College, North Carolina State University, Princeton University, Rollins College, Santa Fe Community College, Sewanee/The University of the South, Tallahassee Community College, Thomas University, University of Alabama at Montevallo, University of Florida, University of North Carolina at Asheville, University of South Florida, University of Tampa, and University of Virginia.
Congratulations to HCES' Class of 2009! We know that their formative years at Holy Comforter set them apart from their peers and inspired them to Be the Difference during their high school career.
