What does a small village 8,000 miles and six time zones away have to do with the HCES Quest program? A lot! That’s just the spot of the world 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade Quest students welcomed into their class on Wednesday, May 15. After eight months of e-mailing a Peace Corps pen pal in Lesotho, South Africa, students were able to meet and talk with her via SKYPE. Not only was it fun to finally meet our pen pal (Tara Hughes, a Clemson graduate and second year Peace Corps volunteer), it was also great to talk with several of her students. It was an exciting 12-minute event packed with greetings and introductions, all sorts of questions, and a huge dose of global goodwill.
