Throughout January, Mrs. Wylie’s 8th grade TARGET class worked together to plan a visit to the Elder Day Stay Program, a drop off program for seniors needing different levels of care. On January 27, our students visited the program and facilitated a variety of activities, including board games, cards, puzzles, checkers, bingo, and beanbag tosses. The students spent the morning interacting with approximately 30 seniors of varied abilities and even left them with a surprise snack of fresh fruit. It was apparent that the visit meant a great deal not only to the elders, but to our students, as well. Often times, the elderly can be a forgotten demographic, and it was a wonderful experience for our students to celebrate them in such a special way.
