Special Event Protect Young Eyes will be speaking to 6th - 8th grade students on Friday, November 14th, regarding technology use in today's age. Below is an outline of the topics that will be covered with students. This presentation is an extension of the parent presentation taking place on November 13. All presentations are sponsored by the Keep Climbing Family Foundation.
Presented by Protect Young Eyes: YOU MATTER (Psalm 139 and Romans 5:8). All humans have a deep desire to be known and feel significant. Modern technology (especially social media and AI companions) has tapped into these longings, but its offer is fleeting and shallow. Through likes, comments, fake compliments, and followers, we receive neurological bursts of "Wow!" that always leave us wanting...more.
What does it mean to be human? Does flesh and blood matter? We remind teens that THEY matter.
No one is better or less, regardless of likes or followers. Through our screens, what we see, say, send, and stand for matters. Each of these actions can be helpful or harmful. We’ll explore both sides while weaving in conversation about the use of technology, the deep impacts of bullying, guarding our digital identity, the lure of AI companions, why it’s so easy to be drawn to all of it, and how to respond with wisdom.
If you have any concerns about the presentation and would prefer that your student not attend, please contact Mrs. Vernon. Parents are welcome to attend the Parent presentation on Thursday, November 13th, at 6:00 pm.Registration here!
