As we look ahead to the new year, we are excited to share some important events designed to help you and your child prepare for the transition to Middle School. Non-HCES friends are invited to attend as well!

Please join us for an informal gathering with fellow 5th grade parents. This is a great opportunity to connect, learn more about Middle School, and ask questions as you begin exploring 6th grade. Light bites will be served, and members of our administration will be available to chat. Note: This is the first Thursday after we return from Christmas Break.

Meet in the Middle | Tuesday, January 13th
Jump-Up Day for our HCES 5th graders, as well as local 5th graders. Our 5th graders and guests will spend the day experiencing Middle School through:

- Classroom visits
- Elective class previews
- Middle School student Q&A panel
- After-school basketball game
About Meet in the Middle:
Each year, we welcome several “new to HCES” families to join our Middle School, typically six to ten students in 6th grade. We consistently hear that the #1 reason visiting families attend is that a friend personally invited them. Parents, invite your children’s friends from dance, soccer, baseball, piano, and more who are interested in learning more about HCES. Visiting students will stay with an HCES 5th grade buddy throughout the day (either someone they know or someone with similar interests).
This event is FREE, open to the public, and registration is required for visitors so that we can prepare class schedules for our guests. (Registration is not required for current 5th graders, as they ALL will participate in Jump Up Day) Click here to register.

Rising 6th Grade Parent Meeting | Tuesday, January 13 • 8:15 AM (the morning of the Meet in the Middle Event)
5th grade parents: Join Amy Vernon, Head of Middle School, for a discussion about what to expect next year. Learn how our program supports children through adolescence and prepares them for success in high school and beyond.
