HCES Lower and Middle School students recently held their SpellingBee competitions. On November 29th, several 4th and 5th graders competed to represent Holy Comforter Episcopal School in the upcoming Leon County spellingbee competition. After 14 rounds, the winner was 5th grader Haley Shoup with second place going to 5th grader Harrison DeGuire and third place to 5th grader Mary Clayton Soto.
After competing in their language arts classes, Middle School students went head-to-head on November 8th for the honor of representing our school. After 42 rounds, 8th grader Katie Merritt won the Bee with the word “conflagration” and 7th grader Jade Livingston came in 2nd.
Their peers gave a standing ovation to the winners at the conclusion of both Spelling Bees. Congratulations to all the spellers who put on quite a show with their spelling skills! Good luck to Haley and Katie in the Leon County SpellingBee, which will be held at Leon High School on January 12.
