MoLab at Holy Comforter Summer Camp 2022 
June 13 – 17, 2022: Hogwarts Academy for Grade 4-5  
Join MoLab for an exciting week exploring the art and science of a magical world. All wizards, squibs, and muggles enrolled in this summer session of Hogwarts Academy will participate in daily lessons to assist in the preparation of OWL Exams. Students will get hands-on with Herbology, Potions, Astronomy, Arithmancy, History of Magic, and the Care of Magical Creatures. Lessons in the Defense Against the Dark Arts will not be taught at this time.  
 
Once Upon A Time (1st-3rd grade) | June 6-10
Join Ms. Jewell for an imaginative and creative week digging deep into five different classic fairy tales. Each day we will focus on a different story by exploring funny variations of the story, STEM challenges, readers theater, and crafting.
 
Read, Write & Bloom Summer Camp (4th - 6th Grade) | June 6-10 and July 25-29
Over the course of the week, we will read the novel Dahlia in Bloom with Mrs. Bonell. As we progress through the book, we will enjoy some fun book-related activities. We will make rag dolls, create our own quilt squares, plant dahlia seeds, watercolor bookmarks, and we’ll even do some writing of our own! The campers will each receive an autographed copy of the book, a writing/crafting journal, and a special visit from the author herself for a book talk! Take a trip back in time to 1933 and experience the simple pleasures of simpler times!
 
Movie Making!  | June 6-10 (4th - 6th) and June 13-17 (3rd - 5th Grade)
Lights, Camera, Action!!! Students along with Mrs. Perkins will learn the process of telling a visual story through the use of iMovie. They will plan their ideas using storyboards, shoot videos using iPads and edit and produce short videos in iMovie. We will end the week with a movie premiere party where students will share their blockbuster film.
 
MakerSpace/STEM Camp (2nd - 5th Grade) | June 6-10 and July 11-15 
Join Mrs. Knudsen for Camp Crusader's MakerSpace/STEM camp. Campers will dive into the design process and cultivate maker mindsets through engaging hands-on STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) and maker activities throughout the week. Projects include engineering challenges, coding with Scratch, exploring TinkerCAD 3D design, free builds and so much more!
 
Ready, Set, Run! (2nd - 5th Grade) | June 6-10, July 18-22 
Runners of all levels experience a week of strength & skill-building along with friends on the HCES cross country course, track, and trails with Mrs. Cavanah. Pick one or multiple weeks. Each week we will have new and exciting activities, games, cross-training, and more! Our activities and training will improve you in running and teach you ways to excel in other sports. We’ll be working on performance, team building, and mostly having fun! 
 
Lego Mania (K - 2nd Grade) | June 6-10 and July 25-29   Lego Mania is FULL
Calling all Lego lovers!  Students will enjoy free play with Legos as well as playtime with Lego robots and Mrs. Wilckens! Students will also work on coding skills as they make their Lego robot move with the iPad! 
 
Mad Scientist Camp (4th - 6th Grade) | June 13th-17th
Join Mrs. Wilckens for her mad scientist camp!  Students will learn about volcanoes, tectonic plates, earthquakes, chemical changes, and more. Students will enjoy learning about these fun and interesting concepts with a hands-on approach! 
 
Cheer Camp (K - 5th Grade) | June 13-17
S-P-I-R-I-T, SPIRIT, let’s hear it!! Join us for a spirit-filled week of fun and cheer with Mrs. Cowart and Mrs. Hatchett!! We will have a blast while learning proper techniques for motions and jumps, learn cheers and chants, execute a few stunts, and even learn a short dance. We will be having fun all week long while helping you show your team spirit! There will even be a Pep Rally on Friday for friends and family to attend. Camp will be taught by a former FSU cheerleader/high school coach and a former UCA instructor and middle school cheer coach. 
 
Stay-Cation (1st-3rd grade) | June 13-17
Join Ms. Jewell for a week of different summer-themed crafts, games, and reading/math activities all revolving around traditional summertime vacations.
 
Reading Camp (1st and 2nd Grade) | June 20 - 24
Join Mrs. Cowart as an incoming 1st or 2nd grader for some hands-on fun with reading and phonics skills! We will be brushing up on previously learned concepts and diving deep into reading/phonics foundations to enforce early reading concepts through fun and interactive activities. Students will leave camp feeling confident and equipped for their coming years at school!

Art Camp (3rd - 5th Grade) | June 20 - 24
Join Mrs. Carpenter for a week of “craftivities”! We will use recycled materials to create everyday items from ordinary materials such as cardboard, tissue paper, recycled glass and more. Each student will enjoy bringing home many usable creations!
 
Robotics Fun with Sphero | June 20-24 (4th - 6th)
Students will spend the week with Mrs. Wilckens using Sphero products (Sphero Minis, Sphero Spark, Sphero Rover and Sphero Indi) to play STEAM-inspired games and learn beginning programming with block-based coding or Javascript. Students will build computational thinking and problem-solving skills as they create mazes, obstacles, art pieces and much more! Students will have the opportunity to showcase their learning with a Sphero developer at the end of the week.
 
All about Weaving Arts Camp (3rd-6th grade) | July 5-8
Create your own hanging wall art weaving by dying your own wool with kool-aid, creating your own homemade cardboard loom, and forging your own stick! We may also experiment with weaving friendship bracelets and dream catchers with Mrs. Myrick!
 
 
Creative Writing/Reader’s Theater Camp (2nd - 5th Grade) | July 18-22 
Come get your creative juices flowing at Mrs. Spicer's Creative Writing and Reader's Theater Camp. Your child will go through the writing process and come home with published writing pieces. Additionally, the second half of the camp will focus on reading fluency in a fun way by having your child step into a character's role that will culminate with a performance at the end of the week!
 
Christmas in July (1st-3rd grade) | July 18-22
Who doesn’t love Christmas?! Join Ms. Jewell for a week of Christmas games, crafts, and writing activities with a summer twist!

MIDDLE SCHOOL ONLY
Crusaders in the Community (Rising 6th - 8th grade HCES students, only) | June 20-24 (7:30 - 11:30 AM) and (June 27-July 1) NEW WEEK!
Join us for a hands-on, service-oriented camp geared specifically for middle school students.  We'll venture out to serve non-profit organizations throughout our community and gain insight into the impact these organizations have locally and beyond.  Components of leadership and teamwork will be entwined throughout the week.  The HCES bus will be used for all off-campus trips, and students will earn 15 service hours throughout the week. Lisa Butera and Lindsay Cheesborough will facilitate the camp.
