A New Athletic Director for the 2016-2017 School Year

An Athletic Director Search Committee completed a comprehensive process that included interest from over thirty candidates. We are very appreciative to the following that dedicated their time and insight in this process: Peter Klekamp (Head of School), Brenda Hagen (Lower School Head), Amy Vernon (Middle School Head), Vince Russo (Board Member), Sal Blandino (Booster President), Jimmie Davis (past Board Member) and Gina Sylvester (MS Parents Association President). Four were brought to campus to be interviewed as we vetted out the best candidates over the past three weeks. Parent, faculty and administrative committees that served in this process unanimously recommended Mr. Mills as our next Director of our Athletic program. 

 

As many of you know, Trent Mills joined the Holy Comforter Episcopal School faculty in 2009, and has been part of both the lower and middle school faculty as well as being an extremely successful coach in cross country, track & field, and girls' basketball. Trent received his B.S. degree in Physical Education from

Florida State University. In addition to his teaching and coaching responsibilities, Trent has played a vital role during our yearly 5th grade Tremont trip, as well as, establishing our Lower School Crusader Running Company.

 

We are grateful to our current Athletic Director, Laurie Coburn for all of her work in making our athletic program the best in Tallahassee. Laurie and Trent will have the opportunity to work together for the next three months to ensure the smoothest transition in leadership, possible. Laurie has set a strong foundation that Trent will strengthen and build upon as we continue to strive for excellence in our Crusader Athletics.
