Holy Comforter Church Names New Rector
Holy Comforter Episcopal Church welcomes Jerry Smith as the new rector. Jerry, accompanied by his wife Marjie Smith, come to Holy Comforter Episcopal Church after over 11 years as rector of St Bartholomew's in Nashville (www.stbs.net).
Both of the Smith's are Canadians and Jerry was 25 years in parish ministry in central and northern Ontario, including five years as dean of the diocese and rector of the cathedral parish of St Matthew's in Timmins Ontario.
Marjie, a writer and editor, worked for several weekly and daily newspapers as well as regional publications. She was also director of communications for Nipissing University in North Bay Ontario.
They moved to Pennsylvania in 2001 where Jerry was on faculty at a seminary and Marjie worked as interim communications director prior to their transition to Tennessee.
Marjie and Jerry have three children and six grandchildren. Two of their children and four grands, still live in Ontario Canada and the third is the rector of St Paul's Chapel in Magnolia Springs, Alabama. Welcome Jerry and Marjie!
