HCES kicks off the new school year with a family oriented Back-to-School event on campus in the courtyard. This is a very casual event, offering an opportunity for students and families to reconnect and socialize. Additionally, the students have the chance to discover teacher and classroom information.
After dropping your children off on the first day of school, stop by and enjoy a cup of coffee with fellow parents in the school courtyard. Coffee will be served from 8:00 - 9:00 a.m. We look forward to seeing you there!
Twice each year, in the Fall and in the Spring, HCES experiences the literary excitement of the week long Scholastic Book Fair! During these two weeks the HCES Library is transformed into a reader’s dream, and the children race to make their selections. Volunteers are needed to help set up and take down the book displays, as well as serve on shifts in the Library during the week.
This school year the Fall Book Fair will be held Monday, October 15, 2018 - Friday October 19, 2018 and the Spring Book Fair will be held on Monday April 1, 2019 - Friday April 5, 2019.

Labels for Education has been awarding free educational equipment to schools in exchange for proofs of purchase from the Campbell family of brands for over 30 years. Turn in your Campbell’s Soup labels to the front office so that Holy Comforter may benefit from this program.

Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week is held each year in the Spring, and it is an opportunity for the HCES families to show our love, admiration, and respect for our incredible teachers and staff. During this week a variety of meals and treats are planned for the faculty and staff, and volunteers are needed to assist with food, decorations and set up.
Teacher and Staff Cookie Exchange is held each December. It is an opportunity for the HCES families spoil our incredible teachers and staff with some (sweet) holiday cheer! Volunteers are needed to bake/purchase cookies, brownies, sweet treats, and set up for this event.
Fall Festival is a treasured family favorite on the HCES campus, and each year hundreds flock to this festive event! The HCES courtyard is transformed with games, bounce houses, face painting, arts & crafts and much, much more! It is an outstanding afternoon of family fun and we hope you will join us this year in the HCES courtyard!
Join us Friday, October 19 from 5pm-8pm! Family passes are $25 in advance or $30 on the day of the event.
Fathers grab your daughters and get ready to hit the dance floor! The HCES Daddy/Daughter Dance is a whirlwind of activity, and a precious opportunity for the dads to trip the light fantastic with their girls...if they can catch them...on the dance floor! Volunteers are needed to help with decorations, set up and chaperoning. This year the dance will be held on Friday, February 22.
The annual Gala is the PA’s largest fundraiser of the year and consists of an evening of dinner, dancing, silent & live auction and more. The event would not be possible each year without our gracious sponsors and donors. Numerous volunteers work to make the night a success.
Gala will be held Saturday, March 9, 2019
All proceeds from Gala 2019 will benefit new campus facility projects and endowment funds.
Grandpeople’s Day 2018 will be Tuesday, November 20th. Invitations will be sent home for the LS students to give to their “grandperson” for this very special event!
Grandpeople are special at HCES and students look forward to having these individuals visit campus each year. Students in grades PK3-8th grade welcome the special visitors for a day of student performances and classroom visits for refreshments and special activities with the students.

Each individual classroom in the Lower School has Homeroom Parents to assist and support the teachers. Opportunities for signing up for this position occur during Open House. Look for the sign-up sheets in your child’s classroom.

In the beginning of May, the HCES courtyard comes alive with billowing colorful ribbons streaming from May Poles! If you pass by the courtyard in these beginning May days you will spot 5th graders practicing for the traditional May Day celebration. Volunteers are needed to assist with practices, as well as providing and serving refreshments during the May Day event.
HCES provides our new families with their own “Shepherd” to guide them through their first year on our campus. The Shepherd will be responsible for making contact with their assigned new family throughout the year, in order for this family to feel they are becoming a successfully integrated part of the Holy Comforter community.
Members of the Faculty and Staff Lunches Committee hosts the three lunches held during Teacher Planning Days during the year, as well as the holiday Cookie Exchange for the faculty and staff. Volunteers are needed for set up, clean up and some food preparation.
